How amazing is life on planet earth? I don’t know about you, but I love it. I love standing on a beach and looking out over the seemingly never-ending ocean. I love when it rains and I love when it’s hot. I love how different and unique every country, culture and it’s inhabitants – both human and non-human – are. I love that you can choose to spend your life searching for Dinosaur bones and get paid for it, if you want. I love that someone, somewhere, once created coffee. I love how small you feel when you try to contemplate the size of the universe. I love David Attenborough’s voice. I love that you are reading this now over the internet but can’t even pinpoint where this ‘internet thing’ IS. Amazing. But before I get too carried away, I’d like to address what on earth greenwithme has to do with all of this.
We all know that our way of life here on planet earth is being compromised by anthropogenic climate change. With this in mind, GWM was born out of a desire to share stories about everyday people that are actively doing things differently – with an aim to get the sustainability conversation fired up to a whole new level.
You can call it what you want but I see this as a movement, small at times, but a movement nonetheless. It’s no longer a nicety for companies to operate in a more environmentally/socially conscious manner, it is expected. It’s no longer a nicety that innovation is assisting everyday people to live more sustainable lives, it is expected. It is no longer a nicety for collective groups and individual voices to be heard, it is expected. There are more platforms and opportunities in front of us than ever before, we just need to know what to do with them. My hope is that the daring people featured on GWM, along with what I’m calling the “positive news” and informative posts, will inspire you to make choices that better reflect your values and the things you care about.
WHAT IS GREENWITHME?
At its simplest GWM is a website dedicated purely to dishing out great content on what is happening in the big, beautiful sustainability space. Whilst that may sound incredibly broad (and it is) my only aim here is to continue to share uplifting, empowering, informative content – and I can assure you the doom & gloom stuff has been 100% left at the door. For those that love bullet points (like me!), here is a quick break down of what I hope for GWM:
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU/ME/US?
First and foremost, this website isn’t about me – it’s about you. Rather than have me sit on some high-blog-horse and rant about things, I’d rather this space facilitate conversations — a two way street where we can shape the content to suit and engage us all. It’s important to acknowledge that people join the sustainability ‘space’ from different angles, each with their varying interests and ways in which they are trying to make a difference. Therefore, whilst GWM may appear to vary in its content and scope, at its crux it will ALWAYS be about people doing their best with that one common, unifying goal.
I really hope you enjoy the posts to come, and if you have any ideas or comments you would like to share I am always just an email away!
Many, many thanks,
